Clitonics is a clitoris model – a sexual organ consisting of head, body, arms and legs largely hidden inside the body. The model exposes and illustrates them. The data model became a body: a tactile object of visual design and prototypical conception (--thinking modifiability in test series. The data model was at no time visible as a digital image/scan but always also represented an associative image, a modifiable virtual image, a projectile capable of being fed back to polymorphous dreams, plastic surgery, bio-synthetic organs.) as well as with the capacity for industrial manufacture.

In order to do so the data specifically edited for this particular process (rapid prototyping) were transferred to a machine allowing for the development of Clitonics from scratch (3D print) by means of an extremely thin three-component polymer (ABS). The material is of high-grade resistance and as light as a feather. The compact body exclusively made from synthetic material was neither polished nor reworked.

The printed data reveals nothing about the various tissue structures or the course of blood streams or nerve pathways. Clitonics denies the option of becoming an artistically made medical exhibit. The project is meant as a contribution to overcome the lack of image (and language) dominating and functionalising the dealings with the sexual organ clitoris. Clitonics flies and floats and is dedicated to gender modified, transsexual and gender modifying persons.

Many thanks to Michaela Pichler for her support with the 3-D modelling, Thomas Mariaschek for his adive and for carrying out the 3-D print, as well as all the others for everything else.
